Alpha is here!
The ALPHA course is best described as a practical introduction to the Christian faith.
The symbol of ALPHA is the figure of a person struggling with a very large question mark. Do you have questions like:
* What is the meaning of life?
* What happens when we die?
* What relevance does Jesus have for our lives?
* How do we deal with guilt?
If you would like to explore questions like these, then ALPHA is for you.
ALPHA stands for:
A - Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Adults of all ages are welcome.
L - Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and to have fun at the same time.
P - People meeting together. Eating a meal together gives people an opportunity to know each other and make new friends.
H - Helping one another. The small groups afford a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks.
A - Ask anything. ALPHA is a place where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile.
Who Is ALPHA For?
ALPHA is for everyone! It is especially geared to:
* People interested in investigating and questioning Christianity
* Couples preparing for marriage or having children
* New Christians
* People who have gone to church but who are unclear or unsure of their faith
What Happens At ALPHA?
There is a series of talks on topics such as:
* Who Is Jesus?
* Why Did Jesus Die?
* Why And How Should I Read The Bible?
* What About The Holy Spirit?
* How Can I Overcome Evil?

Each week participants meet for supper which is followed by a challenging message. We then break into small groups to discuss any questions or issues that arise. This gives an opportunity to get to know each other and to learn together. The evening ends promptly at 9:00 p.m. Childcare is available upon request.
When And Where?
The ALPHA course meets every week for 10 weeks. If you are interested in attending the next class, please contact the church office at 540-465-3920 for more information.
What Others Are Saying About ALPHA
For as long as I can remember, through my childhood, teens, and adult years, I have asked questions. One question I constantly asked myself was "Do I believe in God?" I had no answer and it bothered me. By the end of the third ALPHA evening, I had come to a few realizations that were truly stunning for me -- I knew that Jesus died for me and that I could never 'sit the fence' again. -- Jan
I have learned more in the space of a few weeks than I ever had in years of attending church. -- David
Everything ALPHA gave me was so positive; it gave me the beginnings of understanding what being a Christian means; it gave me warm friendship and a sense of belonging; it gave me patient and thoughtful answers to all my questions. -- Sarah
ALPHA is wonderful -- life changing! ALPHA answered and clarified all the basics for me and put me on firm ground to travel forward on my journey with God. -- Mary
From the very first meeting, we felt this is what had been missing from our lives. It felt like coming home. -- Margaret and Keith
